As a facilitator and trainer, I get a lot of satisfaction from helping people develop their skills and motivations to contribute to what they believe in, and from supporting teams and groups to work to their strengths and find ways forward.
I’ve worked for an international development agency for many years, in a number of campaigning, communications and management roles. I’ve always placed a particular emphasis on helping people build their confidence, capacity and skills to participate, whether as staff and volunteers in an organisation, or people wanting to take action at community level.
See my CV on LinkedIn.
There’s a lot of truth in the famous and rightly well-used quote from anthropologist Margaret Mead: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.’ The practicalities of change start close to home: developing one’s own sense of values and purpose, one’s knowledge and and skills, and, as part of a group or organisation, enhancing its clarity, capacity and sense of mission.
I can help you develop and run workshops and learning events, particularly in the field of social action/activism or management training, or aid personal development through mentoring or coaching, as well as provide training on management and leadership skills. I’m happy to develop workshops that meet your needs, or to facilitate sessions using your existing training material.
I am a facilitator of Action Learning Sets accredited by the Institute of Leadership & Management. And I’ve been accredited to facilitate Carbon Conversations.
